Great looking car, but what happened to the exhaust pipe? Looks like it came off a Mazda 121 Heh heh no offense, just curious.

Naturally I gave all Porsche's on the page top marks

Thanks,

The picture on that website is pre SSI and Dansk conversion, so it is the stock pipe. The new one looks very similar, but is slightly larger. I think that the bigger C2 bumpers make the pipe look a bit small, but that is better than having a "soup can" like the rice boys around here.

Blackdimonds~

How do you like your Quattro? I have a 1990 with 110k miles on it & it's still like new! I love it, you can check it out at: http://www.showyourcar.com/10/&id=53

Hmmm, I'm thinking about purchasing a new one. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the car!

Thanks in advance...

Lance

Lance, your car still looks like new! I have only had my A4 for about 2 weeks now (less than 500 miles) and so far I love it. There is one small problem that we found so far. The rear window glass was not sealed correctly at the factory, and it caused a small leak in the drivers side "c" pillar area. The dealer has been very good about the whole thing, and has ordered new rear glass trim, and has the glass company coming to the house on Tuesday to remove the window and replace all the seals! As for the "C" pillar itself, there was no damage except for some water marking that cleaned up very well. After the window is sealed, I will take it back in to the dealer and have their detailer go over the whole area again to get it to 100 percent (dealer will order new parts if it doesn't clean up to 100 percent). So as far as service goes, it has been a pain, but the dealer is living up to their word.

The car is a 2001.5 A4 1.8T Quattro with the sport package, cold weather package, and Xenon headlights. It is Silver, and has the Ambition interior group (gray leatherette, etc). I got the Tiptronic version, and I love that. My wife can't drive a manual, so this is the best of both worlds for us. The Tip works great, and has the cool F1 shifter buttons on the wheel. The car is not a rocket by any means, but it isn't exactly slow either. The difference in price between the 2.8 and the 1.8Turbo was $6000, and I felt as though the 1.8 was a little more fun to drive (2.8 felt like any old G.M. V6 and the 1.8 T felt more European) if that makes any sense. I guess the new 2002 A4 3.0 is a big improvement over the 2001 A4 2.8, but I didn't like the style of the new car, and I also felt that I would rather get the BMW 330XI for the kind of money they are asking for the new A4 3.0.

All in all, for the money (under $30,000)I feel that the 2001.5 A4 1.8T Quattro is a great car! I also looked at BMW 3 series, MB C class, the baby Jag, and a Subaru WRX. I thought that all but the BMW 3 series were all over priced for what you get. I like the 3 series alot, but I wanted AWD for the snow here in Utah, and the BMW gets real expensive with AWD!

IMHO

Thumbs up

Paul~

I test drove one today... You correct about the power, not very impressive. Overall the quality is superior.

You told me more than the dealer..lol

Thanks again,

Lance

ps I think I'm going to pass... worth checking into though!

Regarding the Audi I think the 1.8 20V Turbo engine is a good little engine. It has got good torque and if you want power you can "chip" it to 190 hp.

Here in Europe that engine is used in a number of cars; Audi A3, A4, A6, TT Coupe, Skoda Octavia, Seat Leon, VW etc. Hp goes from 150 over 180 to 225.

Red face

Its funny because right after I bought the car, I had a sales person at the dealer tell me about different chips and exhaust that I could get to make the car scream. I asked him about the effects of a mod on the warranty. He said, Mods = fun, but Mods = NO warranty. I then had many people on a very cool Audi BBS tell me to chip this and do that and I would end up with a 300hp rocket ship. I am happy with the power for everyday use as it is, So, I guess I will run the car until the warranty is up, then spend a few hundred for a chip, exhaust and intake, and will have a 300HP luxorocket.

he he~

I bet that car would rocket with a Chip & an exhaust! But then again, how hard is the Chip to take out? (before Audi warranty) fixes... he he.

It's definately a super nice car...

Race...
