Brembo P85002N-INT - Do they squeak? Ceramic?
I have original (new OEM) rotors and S calipers. Everything I've tried squeaks, haven't tried these yet. |

I haven't used those particular Brembo pads myself, but typically their street pads are low on dust and noise. I do know that the StopTech street performance pads are low dust/noise: 1973 Porsche 911 E Coupe/Targa - Brake Pads & Rotors - Page 1, as I currently run them on a different platform with great results.
Also, to add another to the plate, have you tried the HAWK Ceramic pads? 1973 Porsche 911 E Coupe/Targa - Brake Performance Upgrades - Page 2 I've also run these and they're great for low dust and noise as well. They're perfect for a street pad and spirited driving. |

What's a squeak? The brakes on my car have a very minor squeak when I'm hard on them at speed. They also sometimes squeal at low speeds when I'm coming to a stop.
The former is likely due to the racing compound of the pads. The latter is likely due to dust or a failure to apply anti-seize or grease on important spots on the pads and caliper. I suspect most people experience the latter, which has more to do with installation than pad compound. |

Maybe it's more squeal...sounds annoying to neighboring cars in traffic sort of squeal.
Is there a point of brake grease application I missed perhaps, what are the exact spots to put grease on the pads/caliper components? |

Just an FYI on brake pads. In recent times there has been copper in the compounds that minimized the squealing of the pads. Effective Jan 1, 2017 all pads containing copper are no longer allowed to be sold. My employer sent back pallets of pads that were no longer saleable (we are a large, regional auto parts operation).
Expect the "squeal" to become more noticeable, or the pad wear to be greater. My 911 has Hawk red pads, good pads, quiet.

Majority of real noise has zero to do with the pads. Look at the above picture and you understand why. Doing a brake job should take a couple hours and you should go through a couple cans of brake cleaner.
Have a fine flat file, sand paper, wire brush, scotchbrite pad, plenty of towels, high temp brake grease and some pad compound. Every surface that pad comes in contact with should be surgically cleaned and true. that means wire brushing any pins or contact points. Caliper pistons have build up that needs to be removed and the piston to pad surface gone over with a fine flat file. Chase all bolts and bolt holes. Clean and clean again your rotors and then clean them again. WASH your hands or change gloves before you touch or install your pads. Use a torque wrench. Honestly I see people swap out pads in the dirtiest of conditions and then blame what junk the pads are. Take your time and spend an afternoon cleaning, prepping and blueprinting all the surfaces and then do it again. After all of that maybe you can blame the pads. I can tell you I have had some race type pads make some noise but I follow the above and I don't have brake noises. |
