3.6L Throttle Cable Id
Ok, while I was playing with my cable this afternoon, I came up with a way to rig a better throttle cable.
First, let's recap the 2 major complaints - lack of cable travel (won't reach full throttle) and cable wear. I think my idea would fix both. First, I'd take the cable reciprocating arm and lengthen it - this would enhance the travel. Once could experiment with different extension lengths, or just ad an extension of arbitrary length and drill several holes. Holes? Yes; the other piece of my brillian scheme is to grind off the stub that holds the cable loop now, and drill a hole in it's place. Then install a clamp bolt (kinda like what Steve uses) and a bushing so it can rotate. Here's an image showing the extension. My paint program doesn't do circles, so the new pivot point is where the "X" is, and the red line is the new cable path. I'm not artistic enough to show the hole and bolt. Feedback?
