993 option questions

I'm looking at a 993 with options 220 (locking differential), 224 (ABD) and 241 (short shift) among others I more fully understand (like a sunroof). I read about ABD and it seem to work with the locking differential, but is this LD the same as "limited slip"? Also, I assume the short shift is about a 30% reduction in lever throw?

It also has option 718 which is "S program VIN change". Anyone know what this refers to?

Pelican parts advisory committee member statistical breakdown: 69 to 73 911's 25%, 74 to 83 911's 30%, 84 to 89 911's 25%, 90 to 94 911's 15%, 95 to 99 911's 4%, 2000 on, slim to none! From my observation of the board, the newer the car and the question, the least likely the answer. Seems these owner haven't tuned into this board as much as the older car owner. Now, if you would of kept your Carrera, you would of had 10 post by now.

Maybe nostatic's wife could answer this one best?

First of all the LSD option 220 is the Porsche limited slip. This is nice to have. The other ABD system is like traction control and it only works at low speed getting you out of ice, etc. I believe they were only available together anyway. The 220 option is pretty rare on 993's. You might consider buying a nice car without it and adding one if you really gotta have it.

Another nice option is the 030 sport suspension. Of course much better would be to upgrade the suspension on your own later anyway to something better than the M030.
