Getting back into a 911
Hi Guys, I used to hang out on the Tech forum but for the past few years I hang over on Off Topic.
Anyway I am buying a 2003 996.2 from my Dad that has been his car for a few years. It has 20K original miles and is in like new condition. It just had the IMS done by a local independent Porsche shop and interestingly they found the cam timing was 1 tooth off from the factory during the repairs. They did a new clutch too while they were at it, just because they were in there, it was far from worn out. The car has a unique combo of options, no foo foo stuff and will be a fun driver for me. So it seems that the 996 forum here on Pelican is dead? No posts for quite awhile. Do people with 996's just post on this forum? I see Rennlist appears to be pretty busy w/ 996 stuff. Anyway, good to be back in a Porsche again. :D Here's a couple pics: http://i1273.photobucket.com/albums/...psoemqtymn.jpg http://i1273.photobucket.com/albums/...psso2gw4mm.jpg |
This forum is for air cooled 911s only. Rennlist 996 forum is where you want to be. Also check out Renntech.org. It's mostly water cooled cars there.

And find another shop. No way it was a tooth off...

Nice car! (I'm one of those who likes the looks of the 996, even the boxster headlights.)

Hi Nick,
I really like 996's too. Surprised that one tooth off timing did not cause a misfire, and CEL. 996's are the current bargain flat six Porsche, and great drivers.Good luck, Dave |
And with the aero kit, nice looking. IMO that makes it look like a true sports car.
Maybe you can refuel the 996 forum. |
