Major oil leak

Hey guys, just went to check out my buddies 84 Carrera. I had the car here just a week before winter storage and not a drop. He says after he parked it for the winter there was a major oil leak. He was right lots of oil on the ground. Hard to say maybe a litre or maybe litres. Nothing registering on the dipstick but the car was jacked up a bit so I could crawl under. Pretty wet all over so it must have started leaking just before he parked it. Highest wet spot that I could see was one of the oil return tubes. see pic. Is it possible this amount of oil leaked through that while sitting. Starting it probably would have made it obvious but I didn't dare not knowing how much oil is in it.

Thanks,, Joe

Even half a liter will look like a lot when spilled on a flat surface. Not sure a lot more can leak from the oil return tube seal, but others will chime in.
Since the oil return tube appears to be the highest point of your leak you should replace the tube and seals. Easier repair that the triangle death.

When sitting for a long time, oil from the tank does migrate into the engine sump and it's possible that it got high enough to leak out of the return tube. Since that's an easy, inexpensive fix, try that before getting too involved in chasing down other possible leaks.
