Fuel Injection makes a ticking noise?

Can anybody offer any thoughts on this one?

The fuel injectors on my car make a ticking sound.
They sound like tappets - in fact thats what I thought they were for a long while.

I can hear the tick from several yards away - is this normal or could it be the sign of a worn injector? Or does it sound like they haven't got enough pressure from the pump?

Thanks
Richard

Take a length of rubber hose, put one end into your ear and other to each injector...they should be equally noisy.

What if I find a really noisy one? is this the sign that it is worn?

I never took it Dickster, I have aquired an osilliscope so I'm going to test the sensors in more detail.
I've also got the Air Flow/M etc.. off at the moment looking and checking for vacuum leaks in all the surrounding pipes.

I haven't given up on it yet.

i wouldn't concentrate too much on vacuum leaks, it would have to be quite a leak to cause the stalling.

i assume it was still fine when cold, then stalling when warmed up (before you took, it apart)?

It was the same as prev described re: when cold it was better.
THe local Porsche dealer said it could be an air leak that let the car run OK when it was cold as the choke gave a rich mixture which compensated for the ammount of air then it lean'ed off as it got warm and started to play-up.

I've got all the pipes off - can't find any problems with any of them so if I get time tonight i'll re-fit and check something else.
