Can you change oil filter housing o-ring without draining tank?

I apologize for such a specific and novice post but this o-ring is next on my list. Can I remove the filter and housing without draining the tank first or is the oil tank full beyond the level of the housing at all times?

yes you can. when i did it, i found that the oil level in the tank wasn't high enough to leak out when i removed the oil filter housing.

Remember to clean the gasket area and what's above it well beforehand with air.
