Early model seat belts

These were originals, held together with duct tape and a total mess when not is use.

I thought I was getting new of the same design but no. The new ones have a retractor built in and I do not think it is designed for this car.

I believe the retractor box is meant to be attached to the B-pillar near the floor. On this set up, the retractor box is attached to the seat, which gets in the way of the seat back release.

In order to change the seat belts, the seats have to come out and be partially disassembled.

The anchor piece has to be removed from the track

Has anyone ever added a seatbelt anchor to the B-pillar when there was never one there to begin with?

Having the retractor box anchored to the seat is a huge fail.

If the box is not perfectly perpendicular and immoveable, the belt will not come out. It's about the most frustrating thing one can do, fight a retractable seat belt that will not come out. It makes me crazy to the point where I want to get my knife. If I cannot figure out how to secure it to the B-pillar, it's all coming out and reverting to the beat up originals.

Don't know the difference between your year and a 72 or 73, but mine had had mounting points for the inertia reals in the rear quarter panels.

From AASE. Their pics on the catalogue are not actual product pics. I thought I was getting the regular adjustable fixed belts and did not realize a retractor was part of it.

I followed installation instructions for my application, without a B-pillar point of attachment.

They work, but to get the belt to come out, takes quite a bit of fiddling, to the point where I just want to rip them out.

Update, 3/26/17: I did rip them out and put the old ones back, after I glued and sewed some of the defects. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/945026-kens-911e-6.html#post9525730

Update 3/27/17: AASE agreed to take them back and full refund. The old ones are back in and no more complaints about that.

The early models have no B-pillar anchor points. Not sure what the cut-off year is before the B-pillar anchors came into being, but after my year for sure.
