oxygen sensor?
 

I discovered that the plug for my O2 sensor is broken and the wire was just hanging loose in my engine bay.

Pics below - it appears that the sensor is meant to plug in just to the right of the fuel filter - where the stub is protruding in my picture.

Do I need to replace the whole sensor - or an I just put a new cap/connector on? I don't see one for sale on Pelican - in fact the cheapest Bosch sensor they sell doesn't appear to come with a connector.

Strangely the car was running pretty well with it not being attached - although my emissions were probably off. Is it critical to remedy? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1490659622.JPG

Welcome to the inevitable O2 connector crap out. Basically the plastic covering around the old connector become brittle and falls apart. Here's the bummer..........there is no OEM replacement. Here's the good news.....it can be fixed one of two ways. One way is even better than OEM, and the other isn't as pretty but also works.
The better than OEM way is to order a custom made replacement from Louie85 on this board. I just installed his manufactured part on my car and it fits and works beautifully (pic below). The other way is to simply cut the two wire ends to expose them and fit any male/female ends that you can pick up at the local auto parts store. Be aware that on the engine harness (male) side the wire is double insulated so you need to carefully strip back the insulation to isolate the inner wire for the connection. This will work, but you won't have a nice fitting that can be held in the bracket.

I had the same problem last year. I could only find one guy who had some made by his neighbor a few years ago. Since I could not find any available; I started making them in my spare time.

FYI...You should be able to just pick out the crumbling pieces in the black female O2 connector side. Then install this wire harness side male connector and you're good to go.

Boy that was fast....Glad you got it so soon.

Motor should be much smoother now at idle and part throttle. Gas mileage will go up considerably to.

Make sure your getting power to the 02 system relay under the seat, just unplug it and plug it in with key on, listen for the click,
and you should feel your freq. valve vibrating when the engine is running.
