1970 rear seat belts / racing harness

can anyone tell me definitivly the best way to attach a racing harness to a 1970 911 T?

i have been told that there are pick up points for the rear seat belts to which i can bolt the front harness. however, i can't find them! there are no rear seat belts!

is there an "indentation/pilot hole" type of thing in the rear fire wall that i should use (a la the front sway bar hole in the wheel well)? i am trying to save myself some headaches... i am not the best welder.

thanks

In the rear seats about hip level there should be a hole at each side where a lap belt would attach. This is your connection point.

--------- ----------- <---Base of seats

The bolt hole is the same as the otehr seatbelts in the car.

You may need to lift the carpet to find them.

This is the rear seat pan of a 1970 E, US spec, it had belts fitted, the fixings are shown below. I would have thought that Porsche would have put the fixings in whether or not rear belts were specified.

Harness bar...

is a must if you are using over shoulder harness system that anchors aft at the rear lap belt points.

Reason as I understand is that you want the shoulder belt exiting off your shoulder aft at an upwards angle. This is so that in a collision or under sudden high loading, there is no compression force induced on ones spine, thus hopefully avoiding any disc compression injury.

Upon having this explained to me, I put the Perf. Prod. bolt-in Harness bar on the Xmas list, (the one that allows you to still recline one's seat a fair bit), and now thx to santa, have it in and the shoulder harnesses go over the top, thru the guides and straight down to the rear lap belt factory mount points. I like it. clean and safe.

cheers!

Good point. Most instructions that come with belts allow a 45 degree angle, but horizontal off the shoulder has to be better.

I have a Stable Energies bar in my Targa. It allows my Three point belts to peacefully coeist with my 4 point stroth harness for AutoXing.
