Carrera tensioner guards

Folks

Has anyone used these ? Any issues or concerns?

There has been some discussion on these. Probably a good idea. Of course you will have to disassemble your tensioners, which is a can of worms.

First you have to measure how much travel your piston has, then cut down the spacer to match.

On my tensioners there was not enough clearance to use them.

Thanks - my engine is apart right now so a good time for me. Will speak to my engine builder for guidance. Generally, a good idea if space to fit? I had my tensioners changed circa 30k miles ago, and recently heard what my engine builder thought was chain lash.

Did he check to see if the tensioners were firm? He should not have any trouble figuring out the chains if he is experienced with 911s. If you read here you will know more than necessary about Carrera tensioners. Carrera tensioner questions

He said the tensioners were fine to re-use, however said he'd recheck them. Unsure how much give was present. He's one of the UKs best aircooled engineers, and yes, chains will be changed regardless. I didn't realise the guard Kit was a replica of the SRP Kit, should be a worthwhile mod.
