The sources I checked don't show an eleven digit VIN for car beginning with 911..., and that looks to be an eleven digit VIN.

I'm stumped.

Unless I'm mistaken, a '69 would begin with 119xxxxxx. My understanding is that Porsche went to the 911xxxxxxx, a ten digit VIN, in model year 1970. Your car could be a 1970 but originally sold in '69 so the paperwork id's it as a '69. Common practice in some areas.

Could be exception though.

This vin plate is located on the dash, under the windshield in front of steering wheel.

Still, Porsche did not use an eleven digit VIN on cars beginning with 911. At least I can't find evidence of it anywhere.

I'm thinking it's a fake VIN.

Where's djpateman when we need him?

What about the location? All 911s I’ve seen have the VIN plate pinned on the A pillar.

I am wrong with this observation?

Yes, 911xxxxxxx cars imported to the US often had the plate on the A pillar. The location changed, I believe, in later cars but I'm not sure. The location and the fact it's eleven digits makes me think it's a fake VIN.

Do you have the VIN from the trunk?

Unfortunately no, not at this time. A fake VIN?!

This might get interesting.

I'll see if I can get Dave to take a look at this.

As ossiblue mentionned, never seen an 11 digit VIN but strangely enough sixbanger list his VIN as 11 digits as well.
