SC Sunroof Rear Seal Installation Questions

Hello All,
I've had this car apart for a while and my memory is failing me on where this seal is placed. It's an '81 SC. This is the one I have.

And this shows the length which it appears to curve forward somewhat but not enough to reach the felt seal on the sides.

The factory diagram shows it is placed at the rear of the sunroof. It also shows two different seals but I only removed one. Mine appears to be the one shown at number 51.

I don't recall this being glued onto the sunroof panel itself and when I use a mirror to look up at the rear lip of the opening there seems to be signs there was adhesive at one time. If my memory is correct I found this seal in the back of the sunroof cavity, not attached as if the adhesive had failed.

So here are my questions. Is there just one seal but different types? Does it get glued to the underside of the sunroof rear opening?

Thanks,
John

It get's glued to the back of the sunroof panel. It seals the roof slider to the main roof when it shuts in place Do a search there's lot's of sunroof seal replacement threads.

Thanks. I had done a search but not good enough. I tried again and found some good posts. It appears I'm missing one of the two seals. I appreciate the quick reply.

The seal goes on the back of the panel on the top surface about 1/4 of the way from the back. I am trying to remember if there is a small lip or something to place it against. I had the panel completely out when I installed a new one for cheap

This is the sunroof straight out of my crashed "86 with still the original seals on it.

Note that the rear seal reaches each side.
The new ones from Porsche don't..

J2, I hope that answers your question.

I'm also about to instal the sunroof into my build. So, not to hijack this thread, I am now wondering where this self-adhesive felt gasket goes. Note that its shorter than the width of the sunroof, and its too wide to place between the rear seal (see pic #1) and the raised rear portion of the sunroof. Must go elsewhere, at the front perhaps??, because obviously my '86 did not have one.

Cheers,
Johan
