need help with 901 axle flanges

Guys, I'm going mad. I used search but all the replies seam to dance around the answer.

I have a 901 trans in my 914 (non LSD) My hubs have been converted to 911 5 bolt's. the drive shafts are the 110mm with the tin cups on the ends. I need to find the correct trans axle flange in the 110MM 4 bolt with the two roll pins. the only ones I can seem to find are for the LSD trans( longer shank 61mm vers my 56mm)

does anyone know of the correct flanges I need?

thanks

Scott

Check with PMB Performance - he has info on conversion axles on his website and you could certainly give Eric a call if needed. The 914 (901) trans uses the early large splined flanges, so the early 915 flanges might work. Folks also use some custom made half shafts to accommodate the different axle length. There are threads on the 914World about this conversion as well.

Question 1: do you really have a 901 gearbox in your 914, or a 914 gearbox. One is alumni m and the other is magnesium and they use two different differentials.

I'm not sure if there is a difference between the LSD and open diffs.

From my experience the difference is due to the fact that Porsche changed the width of the 911 CV to a narrower one in '72 and lengthened the axle? It may be that you need the '69 to '70 axle flanges. I have not found any documentation on the difference between '71 and '72 axle lengths.

The one on the left is '72 and the right is '71. Both came from open diff 911 transmissions.

If we are talking mag 911/914 there is a difference and the lengths he mentions in the first post are correct.

Call Eric, he is a 914 guy, or try posting over on 914world.com - The largest online 914 community!

its a 914 mag case. I bought a older 914 race car that came with the hubs and axles( like I mentioned, the axles look to be from a 930 or something. I'm just trying to figure out what flanges I need. My other two 914 track cars run a 915 trans.

The 72-73 915 flanges would be my guess.

I do run 5 lug wheels at all for corners

Early 911 '70-72.
