Rear Bearing Play SWB
I need some help diagnosing some rear bearing play for a 1965 912. I replaced all the rear bearings (inner and outer) but when I go to tighten the 30mm axle nut the wheel locks up in place at the specified 215 ft lbs. I also noticed that the nut goes 30mm past the cotter pin hole on the cv joint axle. Any ideas?

What driveshafts are you using and are they installed when you tighten the hub nut?
It sounds as if the spacer tube (8) that locates the two bearings hasn't been re-installed which does seem unlikely but I can't think of another reason for this problem.

I feel that the wheel hub is pushed in too much.
