Thought I had Fuchs 8x16s today
I found a pair of 8x16s for $350 and went to buy them today but found that they were the AKT replica wheels sold by another parts distributor. Since I want to put them on the back and use them on the track - I passed. My local mechanic said some PCA regions used to not allow the replica wheels on the track for DEs. He said he has not seen that recently and that some of the wheels are ok now. Did I do the right thing?
Something about having forged on the front and cast on the back did not sit well with me. Luckily I my wrench said he has a pair of 8's for $500. I think $150 is worth the piece of mind. |
There's also better resale value with the genuine Fuchs.

If you are interested in a set of four genuine Fuchs (a pair of 7X16 and a pair of 8X16 with mounted and balanced R1s) email me directly. I know of a set for sale. I believe the asking price is around $1100.00 or so.

Pete,
You did the right thing. Forget the replicas. The 8's for $500 from your wrench is definitely a good deal. I just bought a pair of 8's off ebay for $480, and i've been searching for awhile. The more you search, the rarer they seem to be. Mine are in Al Reed's shop now, getting the lips polished. Mike |
