Zuffenhaus Products

Good morning Pelicans

I have a 74 that was built in late 73. I purchased a ST steering wheel and late hub from Zuffenhaus and when I went to transfer the horn contact / turn signal cancel ring there were no threads in the bottom of the late hub to screw in to. Either I should be using an early hub or the hub is defective.

I have left a few voice mails and sent a few emails but still no reply. Short of knocking on their door is there another way to get a hold of these guys?

I'm considering using epoxy to hold the screws in place. Suggestions?

Thanks

David

If I follow you correctly, the hub from Zuf is a decorative cover. It eliminates the accordian cover on the Momo saftey crush hub. Since the Zuf wheel is a momo prototipo (mostly) it still needs the momo hub. The momo hub has the threads that hold the turn signal cancel in. The steering wheel bolts up to the hub, through the decorative cover holes and into the angled momo hub.

I think ZUF is sort of mis labeling it, by calling it a 'hub' it should be called a hub cover. Again, you still need the actual structural crush hub underneath.

Can you post a pic of the bottom of the zuf hub? because my decorative cover is from a different supplier so I could be way off base here.

the zuff guys are common contributors here, I'm sure they would comment. Of course it's a holiday week and summertime, so it is always possible they might be slow to respond.

why not PM them thru pelican: eimkeith

The hub is a solid piece of aluminum. It has the correct splines on one end and the 6 or 8 M6-1.0 threads on the other end to attach the wheel. I will post a photo tonight of the three holes for the three factory screws that attaches the horn contact/turn signal cancel ring.

Yes, it is a holiday week and I should be more patient

Thanks

David

The brass ring you transferred over should have the spade to mount the wire no?

Yes, the ring has a tab but no tab for ground. I think I will go buy a second washer to go on the column and I will drill a hole and solder on a ground wire.

Usually momo wheels and similar that come with a horn button like that have a ring that goes between the hub and the wheel to hold the horn button and it has a tab to allow the ground wire to attach.

If it were my car I’d get screws one size bigger but same length then tap matching threads into the hub. And I’d probably over engineer it and use allen button head screws too.
