same difference- WTF?

Jim Savage 01-24-2003 11:02 AM

How 'bout........."Serious calls only".

Or "Sale this weekend only" at any store. Isn't every thing for sale in the store through the week?

And why do we "park" in a driveway and "drive" on a parkway????

MarkP 01-24-2003 11:03 AM

How about the people who stop and wait when merging/turning into a collector/distributor lane?

I hated that before.

surflvr911sc 01-24-2003 11:04 AM

Ah, the English language, or for our English friends, the American language.

Bad headache?
As opposed to a good headache.

Hot water heater.
If you have hot water why heat it?

WTF does that mean? Are there some times that miles are somehow not "original"?!? Like, "Well, the car has a total of 120,000 miles on it, but only 60,000 of those are original."

I've often wondered about this one as well. I've heard of statute miles and Nautical miles, which are different in length. Anybody know how many feet are in an "original" mile?

"or President Bush's "nuculur weapons" Seems that the President of the United States would have someone with the balls to explain to him how to pronounce nuclear."

Yesterday he said in St. Louis that the terrorists would be tried and "persecuted". I'm so proud to be a 'merican.

Oh yeah - "orientated" instead of "oriented"

How about "fax me this"

How do you facsimile me this?

True, but stupids are always idiots--see our prez.

And, "Fax" is ok--a noun morphing into the vernacular as a verb.

Makes sense to me, 90,000 original miles = 90,000 miles with out an engine rebuild. I.E. in the cars original form. In the same way that people say '3000 Miles since rebuild', yes well the car could have travelled 355,000 miles before that... :D

Bush does require some assistance with his pronunciation. I do cringe when I hear him blather about "nuculur" weapons or that the United States as "reckanized" the threat that they are.

Please... the word is recognized!!!

How about "reverting back" ?

sammyg2 01-24-2003 04:36 PM

Harkening back to when Spinal Tap plays the Air Force base dance:

Hookstratten: ...I would like to get the playing on about 1900 hours, if that is satisfactory?
Derek: When will that be?
Hookstratten: I make it now it is about 1830 hours.
Derek: So that's what? about 50 hours?
David: 120 hours?
Hookstratten:That's actually about 30 minutes, about a half hour, give or take just a few minutes. I don't want to rush you. The idea is that we get it on and we get it over with and I have just one request, would you play a couple of slow numbers so I can dance.
