Its based on the 991 integral sump engine, not the older metzger drysump which was based on the even older air cooled motors

According to the Porsche web site this motor has a dry sump system with (3) or (4) pumps. So is this just a modification of the production 4.0 motor?

It's progress that's all. I know this is heresy around here but it's a lot faster then the old Mezger
( and less pure blah, blah, blah)

So, any more news on the motor?

The 911 & 912 were 1-2 at Lime Rock. Pretty impressive.

How about the production version, available in the 2017 GT3? The basis for that production engine is the RSR motor.

From an article in the September 2017 Excellence: 500HP at 8,250 rpm (9,000 rpm redline!), 339 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm. Steel crank, titanium rods, 13.3:1 CR, and seven scavenge pumps feeding oil through the crank to the rod bearings. Top speed 198 mph.

You can even get it now with a 6-spd manual instead of only PDK.

Thanks Mark, I will look up that issue.
