Ride height question
 

I finished the chassis restoration on my 71 in the fall of 2015. I installed a 2.2L motor in it and had it aligned and set to Euro ride height - 25" at the rear fender lip through center line of axle and 25.5" at front fender lip.

This past fall I swapped out the 2.2L for a 3.0L. While tuning my PMO's (they are getting close) and realizing more potential out of the engine, I noticed the front end feels very light and darty at speeds over 60 mph. I did some reading and some of the stuff that I saw that Grady wrote said that too low is as bad as too high in terms of handling. Based on this I went back to check my ride height and found that the front was where I expected, but the back was lower (23 7/8" passenger side, 24 1/2" drivers side). Makes sense since I put a heavier motor in. I'm running 19mm torsion bars in front and 26mm in the rear. I have adjustable spring plates in the rear. The rest of the suspension is fully refreshed stock 71 with rubber bushings. I am running a fiberglass S front bumper.

Am I running enough T bar in the rear? Will this lower rear ride height cause the front end feeling described above? Will I need to re-index my T bars to get the ride height up that much in back?

I would raise the back as a first step. You also want a 1-deg. slope.

Useless Tech Information

Typically, early 911 chassis TBs are upgraded to 21/26, 21/27; maybe 28 rears with heavier engines. YMMV. As Mr. Newton suggests, read some opinions from B. Anderson and others.
