83 SC front seat - how to remove back?
I got the front seat out with no problem and figured out how to separate the seat back from the bottom BUT I can't figure out how to detach the pull wire for the recline mechanism. I've searched and looked in my manuals but can't find that. I don't want to cut the wire!
This wire: http://mhackney.zenfolio.com/img/s7/...01344201-4.jpg The seat bottom is to the left, seat back on the right in this photo. |
Pull the wire down. There is a slot in the metal part of the lower seat frame. The clip will slide off to the side.
Basically pull down and start wiggling. Once you do it you will see it is simple. Best of luck. |
Thanks Dave but I don't see a slot? I have wiggled and shown a flashlight in the area. Wouldn't the slot have to be in the oval hole you see in my photo?

Well, I carefully bent the retainer and popped it off. You can just see this part in the first photo, it clips in a groove in the wire end behind the bracket with the hole. That worked. |
Now I need more professional help! I have gone through the Color-Plus process on my passenger seat and ready to reassemble. The seat came out amazing and I'll post photos when I'm done.
I am trying to figure out how to get this part on the end of the wire fitting shown above. I can't get a grip on it, I can't push it from behind because I can't get enough leverage. Any recommendations GREATLY appreciated! |
mhackney, the cable end retainer should look like this. Never seen the piece that's in your hand on a 74-84 seat.

If you were inclined to order one, you can do a search for part# 91152136900. A few sites do carry this clip.

Thanks Marko. Those look like they would snap on much easier. I've ordered a couple from our sponser even though they are off the top expensive "I'll know they are there"
cheers, Michael |
