Question Rear view mirror removal

Tried a search, Followed Bently manual but cant get past first step: remove glass. Stuck small slotted driver in little hole but cant feel what I am suposed to turn counter clockwise to release glass. Done trying tonight, must stop before I break something. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe

A little more info:

Are you talking about the inside rear mirror? Or the "Flag" side mirrors?

Ben, I am talking about the outside "Flag" mirrors. This morning I just pried on the glass and released it from 3 "bannana" style clips. So I think I got it but not sure if this was correct way. Bently shows some locking ring deal. I dont see this on mine. Your car looks great! I am in process of taking off parts and re paint car. Your photos are inspiring. I hope mine turns out as nice. Thanks for the reply,
Joe

Joe,

You did it right, you just pry the glass out of its retainers. Once the glass os out there are a few 10mm bolts that hold the motor mechanism to the mirror body.

Once it is out you will see a round connector to undo. Then comes the tricky part of getting the mirrors off of the car. You have to literaly disassemble the round plug and remove the small wires to get the mirror frame off of the car.

If you have any more questions let me know.....
