Motive Brake Bleeder: gasket needed?

Hi Peeps.. i borrowed one of these from my brother and its not creating pressure... just the vessel itself will not pressurize even when hose is clamped off so its not leaking at the MC reservoir.. does anyone know if a gasket is needed where the black pump unit screws to the housing? This tightens up nice but there is no gasket on mine. wondering if i am missing that part... thanks driving me nuts

good evening Frank

There should be a black rubber disc that seals between the top of the car's (opened) master cylinder and the black lid (with the tubing that runs to the big white bottle) of the Motive device.

Yeah, I just used one of these for the first time last weekend. There is a rubber gasket that goes inside the screw cap. Also, it's worth using two wrenches to tighten the two brass screw fittings in the hose. I had leakage from there until I did that. Just snug them up, don't overdo it.

There's a large o ring that goes between the pump and the body under the cap
it's out of place or missing

Thought I lost mine and cut a new one out of rubber roofing membrane. Pretty sure the company could sell you a replacement. If it's more than a few years old and you're going to use fluid in it, I'd also replace the hoses. One of mine broke and got fluid all over the trunk.... not a good thing.

I tried to use one of those but the ridge on the plastic reservoir prevented the cone shaped rubber gasket from forming an air tight seal. I just went old school and bleed them in 15 min anyway.

Do you have the drain tube pinched off?
