Wobbly steering wheel again. BUT I performed the metal sleeve trick years ago...

The nut holding the steering wheel on is tight. What's my next step to remedy this? Thanks

See if the sleeve backed out. Seen the sleeve wear the shaft a couple of times.

thanks John I had it apart last night installing my new steering wheel but it didn't look like the sleeve had backed out. Are there other bushings that wear that could cause the steering column to wiggle?

Just the bearing itself. Pull the wheel and see what's up.

There's a steering shaft bearing in the smuggler's box. Held in by 2 hex screws and a plate.

ok I have pulled the wheel again and it appears the sheering shaft is wobbly around the metal sleeve Salayc--would this shaft bearing possibly be causing the wiggle? Interesting. Thanks

See if the shaft is worn under the sleeve.

Hard to say, but easy to diagnose. Just open the smuggler's box and check for free play in the bearing moving the shaft by hand.

Checked the smugglers box and the bearing is not allowing any play here. Is this my next part to chase and replace?

You can try replacing it, it sounded like they would be obvious play from you symptoms though.

Is the shart worn under the bushing? Shaft, not shart. We know about sharts.
