valve adjustment question...

so it is my first time...

i've read 101, bentley and the archives

after I do all of the valves and then turn the engine over a couple times by hand then recheck...i ALWAYS find one that is off...and it seems to be an exhaust rocker...

I think I have probably gone through the valves at least 8 times

any one have any suggestions?

at one point I did it...rechecked...everything checked out...
then I put my chain covers back on (from the cam swap)...and before putting on the valve covers I rechecked and found one that was too tight...

I am trying to get all the valves to have a snug "drag" feeling...why do I always end up with one or 2 tight ones???

MJ

could it be carbon bits on the exhaust valves????

Sorry if this is a dumb question but why were the chain covers still off?

I've done a few of these on friend's cars (and will be doing my own soon) and have used the 2 tool method: one loaded with .004 stock and one with .005 stock. Using this approach I've been able to find a good consistent pattern of tightness.
