Passenger window intermittently goes down not up
Hey all, so as you see, my passenger side window sometimes will go down and not up. I know the switches sometimes fail, but when the window decides not to go up, I usually try both switches and both exhibit the same behavior, it also usually seems to happen after a rain? Maybe I'm just guessing or it's a coincidence. It rains a lot in Miami. Given that both switches are having the problem at the same time I wonder if there's a short or loose connection somewhere.
Usually when this happens I just hit the switch a few times and it eventually starts going up. It wasn't a big deal except yesterday it happened and took a long time to work again. Either way, I'm pretty decent with a wrench but anything electronic scares the hell out of me. I don't really know how the connections to the window motor work and where to check first. Do I just pull the passenger side door cars and stop there? Relays? Other connections? |

May be binding up. Read this: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/940398-power-window-woes.html

P/W Motor.
It might be a bad/intermittent connection at the passenger side P/W motor.
If you can, try removing the door panel for a look. Also, if you can get some tech support here is the CKT for the driver's & passenger side windows. Good luck, Gerry http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1494186455.jpg |
The switches have numbers on them for the wire ports. Get your reading glasses and follow 86 911 Targa's guide.
I have always pulled the door card and the bummer is once you nail the problem you have to disconnect the wires from the switch and make sure the wires stick out of the reinstalled card far enough to re-connect them. However, you are pretty savvy and dexterous by that point. If both switches fail in the same manner, start with replacing the driver's side switch. If you have time, just disconnect and then re-connect. Could just be cooties at the connection. Aside from topic, a notorious issue is the windows go up and down super slow. Read up on how to lube the big gear thingie on the regulator. A smidgeon of grease works wonders. |
