Zenith parts sources

I have a set of Zenith 40TIN's that are about to go onto a 2.4 E engine. I believe they've actually been on one before because they came with 32mm vents. Sadly, I've lost 2 of them.

Anybody know a source for Zenith vents and/or jets? I've got parts from that guy on ebay before... alfa????, but I can't find any records! Can someone help me find that guy again? Does he make venturis? Does anyone know a machinist who does?

Thanks!
Dan

alfa1750 is seller's ID. Search "Porsche Weber" & you will find him that way also.

Getting the vents machined shouldn’t be too hard with a decent machinist. Just make sure you get the throats at the right height. If you’re super careful, you can just get a micro drill bit set and drill your jets yourself. The only thing is it’s a one shot tune. You want to make sure they’re right on. No turning back once they’re drilled out.

Zenith venturis are die-cast, not machined from solid round bar or thick walled tube so there is not enough wall thickness to re-machine to larger size worth the effort.

He’s going from a 2.2e to a 2.4e. Might just be able to get away with what’s already there?

I’ve bought a lot of zenith parts from alfa1750. He sells new venturis that can be any size you want. Buy a whole set to be sure they are the same.

They come from italy. He ships via the postal system. Takes about one week.

Quality was ok, but not great. Got a bad set and alfa1750 replaced them for free.

Highly recommend alfa1750 for the majority of parts. If you have patience was for the seller to have a sale or for eBay to send you a discount.

After the rebuild and during fine tuning I was also able to source jets and some other small parts from domestic carb places like CB Performance, Gene Berg, etc.

There is a Zenith thread on the forums that discusses the O-Rings and which to purchase. I bought mine from Mcmaster-carr very inexpensive

Sadly the Zenith carb rebuild kits are mostly junk. I used the new accelerator pump/springs and some of the gaskets BUT if I had it do over again I would have just purchased the parts I needed individually to get higher quality parts.

Also, if you plan to remove the intake manifold don't forget the gaskets you will need for the intake to spacers and spacers to intake manifold.

PMO has the float gauge you will need to set the float height

If you plan to plug the emissions systems I found it easiest to tap threads into the ports and then seal them with grub screws. This solves a lot of air leaks, piping, backfires, etc, on these carbs. That said, if you have the original emissions gear it can be made to work very well. Mine had been cut off & removed before I received the car.

I'm sure I am forgetting some things but they are good carbs and perform surprisingly well when rebuilt. Many good threads on here I found helpful when rebuilding mine. Not a hard job so long as you are organized during disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly.
