No LSD on turbo?

997 Turbo went "bang" and then no more response to throttle on highway. A tow to a dealer resulted in a $33K quote to replace the Tipt gearbox because it no longer engages gears. On the rack, I noticed the left drive shaft came away from the gearbox flange and took out the last M10 CV bolt. Cleaned everything, re-tapped the flange, new M10 bolts, Schnor washers (not on car before), Loctite and safety wires on both sides. Those suckers are never backing out again.

So, how come the detached shaft on one side disabled the gearbox? Would the LSD allow the car to move anyway?

my 88 BMW has an LSD. 25% I think.
I can still spin the inside tire.
may be wrong but is you have no resistance on one side and full grip on the other an LSD wont matter, only a full lock up.

The modern lsds are zero preload and act like an open diff when "tested". I've never heard of a tip with an lsd.
