2009 or 2010 first "non IMS issue" year?
Hi;
I Have read about IMS ad nauseum. Preparing to buy a 2008-2012 911S for track days and around town fun. So what year did the problem finally disappear? I don't want to buy a 991 Turbo but am prepared to do so to avoid that mess. Is there a definitive answer short of buying a Turbo or GT3??? DL |
2009 based on 2 mins of research. This quote from way at the bottom of the article.
Fast forward to 2009, Porsche’s newest lineup of Boxster, Cayman, and 911 models feature their newest 9A1 engine, which no longer utilize an intermediate shaft to drive the camshafts, but rather drive them directly off the crankshaft. IMS 101 – IMS Retrofit GT3 and Turbos have a different engine, right. Mezger. I would get a couple more data points just to be sure. Rennlist has a robust water cooled forum. |
