So, amidst wrestling with my own cable route & feel, Ive been considering alternatives. Including gt3 style in-sheath cables. Then this popped up on instagram and got me thinking...

Anyone else tried this?

BTW - I was just in Cape Town and hiked up Table Mountain.

Many contemporary cars have adopted throttle-by-wire throttle control. Before that, throttle actuation was by cable. Before that, there was mechanical linkage. The solution for early Porsches is thus to upgrade to an old-fashion cable.

The issue is finding a the correct length cable and perhaps fabricating or adapting the mechanical stop and bits at the throttle end.

All this should fit comfortably inside the tunnel. However, having everything exposed makes adjustments easier if one doesn't mind the "clutter" of mechanical bits next to your foot/leg. Are you thinking of exposing the clutch linkage too?

I was about to change to a cable but could not figure out how incorporate the hand throttle.

You could remove a section of sheathing below the hand throttle lever to expose the cable, then apply an equivalent mechanical cable stop and lever arrangement. Other adjuster bits may be necessary to support the flexible cable at that location.

JWE has developed a cable system like this that is installed on several SPEC 911 cars. A special gas pedal is part of this system.

I suspect that it is/will be used on the GTL (a special Porsche Racing Club GT class that is growing rapidly) car they build. It is pretty well sorted out. Not sure whether its available as a kit of parts, but I suspect that it might be available to another shop.

901 shop in Florida list a kit for $550.
