Washers got trans mounts
I am replacing the trans mounts and previous owner did not put the correct washers in.. does the trans mount take the same curved washer as the motor mounts do..if so I am missing them.. so i will need 4 correct?
I see pelican sells thick washers for the mounts is that all I need or should I install the curved ones. 85 911 3.2 Thanks Len |

Hi to Australia...yes i remember this bulletin....back in the 1980`s a lot of mechanics used the air impact gun to install the trany and engine back into the car.I have seen plenty of stripped threads because of this.
We have decided(at the shop) then to use only one washer on bottom. The origin is 4 ...by the specs...i use only 2 ...per trany mount..i like the when the mounts meet solid with the body. Ivan Len ,you might want to use 4 ...so i do not mislead you;-) |

Having suffered a stripped thread that had to be helicoiled I recommend threading the bolt in by hand until it bottoms out, then wind it out one full turn. Measure the exposed shank length of the bolt and make sure that whatever your combination of mount and washers is the bolt cannot bottom out.
