Porsche 911 Carrera RSR with six original miles!

This was lightly touched on over in OT, but wanted to bring this here to get the tech guys input on this gem! A 1993 Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.8 is for sale with only six original miles! It has been put up on RM Sotheby's here to be auctioned on Saturday, May 27, 2017.

Here are some details:

Quote:
Only 10 kilometres; completely original and as-delivered
Still covered with the factory-applied Cosmoline
Special-order Polar Silver over Guards Red leather
One of two race-derived RSRs with a fully trimmed interior
One of only 51 Carrera RSRs produced
More details can be found at the link above where it will be auctioned. What do you think it will go for? Share your thoughts with us below.

I've seen this around the webz... but I'm trying figure out the paint.
Did some kids take some spray paint and vandalize it??

Someone had mentioned it was just dirty. A car with that few miles shouldn't look like crap!

The "dirt" is due to the car has this sticky thick wax or something like that on. It is really normal for a car that is new and has not been sold and still part of the dealer to have this stuff. When I was stationed in Germany back in the 80's, I bought a new US specs 318i and it had this on. The dealer had to detailed the car before delivering it to the new owner. I could still find some of that thick wax when I was cleaning the car. I guess they left it on it and it got a lot of dust/dirt which makes it look that way.

Yep, it is cosmoline on the outside of the car, but I don't know who took the red spray paint to the inside of the car.

Crazy interior if I had the money and I don't I would have to pass because of it.

I'm reminded of the Top Gear segments with the Panamera - all three hosts loved driving it but hated to look at it. Ultimately they decided looks matter less than driving experience.

But yes, I'd go insane sitting in that thing. True shame. Maybe that's why it was never driven?

I'd drive it just the way it is. I have no issues with all Red interior. It reminds me of a lot of 60's cars I like.

10 posts to this thread and nobody has given Luccia any love!
Give the young lady what she is asking for - opine on the selling price, already!!!

I'm no appraiser, but this is a fairly rare bird, no?

Put me down for breaking into seven figures.
Whether the sale price starts with a "1" or something else - I couldn't begin to guess.

It's a shame that the collecting world has given precedence to "patina'd" barn finds, and non-running low milage examples like these cars, over running original/concours restored vehicles. So, you're the winning bidder, now what do you do with the car? What has created it's value has basically made it a non-functional piece of art. ANYTHING done to the vehicle to clean it, or make it road worthy decreases its value exponentially. Mechanically, anything in the fuel, oil, and brake system would need complete reconditioning/replacement to restore it back to a running, and driving vehicle. Then how do you get an insurance company to give you insurance on the auction price on a vehicle (now in running condition) that is now only slightly more valuable than the next nicest "normal" running example? Be prepared to bid against those like Jerry Seinfeld. Ones that don't stop bidding because they are out of money!

In the Old West, the saying was, "Beware the man with one gun." The modern-day equivalent is, "Respect the forum Vet with a low post count."

Exceptionally well stated.

Wait a minute. There are two of these cars, the other being white? Why isn't the white one for sale? Looks like basic market manipulation, but what else can you expect from Sotheby's, et al? The mystery is so much greater when you consider that two nearly identical cars appear to have been ordered at the same time - and then wasted. Who knows the full story?
