245/45/16 tires on 8" Fuchs? Pictures?

Hi all,

I recently purchased a set of 7 and 8s and have a spare set of 205s and 245s Fusion ZRis in my basement. I know some people run 245s on an 8" rim but I'm concerned it might not look "correct". Does anybody have any pics? Should I go with 225s instead?

Another question is do some of you run a spacer on one side of the car (rear) because I've noticed that many Carreras in my 87's vintage have different hub depths. (If you don't believe me run a plumb bob down from your fender lip and take a measurement to your rim or hub). Mine is about 15mm out. I still haven't figured out why it's like that

I've got the same tires and same rim set up on my 82 SC, sorry no pics, but they look fine. I've got no rubbing or other issues. I also heard the Fusions are NLA when stock runs out! Figures I find a tire I like and then they're gone!

I'm running 245/45/16s on 8" wheels on the back of my 71 911 with SC flairs. However I have Khumo 710s which run a little small for their size. If JoeyD says Fusions work I would go with that.

Try measuring from the fender lip to the frame on both sides. Also check your alignment. Is the camber the same on both sides?

My front tires/wheels in this picture are 245/45-16s on 8x16s. Not a great picture, but 245s on 8s work just fine...

Awesome. Thanks again guys.

Steve/Don: The wheels you posted appear to be different from each other. Is one a 951 style?

8's on 245/45 Sumitomo HTRz. I also run a .25 inch spacer on the rears.

I ran the Fuzions on my 9 inch Cup wheels in 245/45 and really liked them. They were excellent in the wet and pretty sticky for street use.

Those look like normal mid-year flares on your car, how are you able to fit 245's on 8's in the front and back? I would love to have that much tire on my 74 but been told, and read, over and over again it's impossible. Are you doing anything special to make them fit?

And judging by that pic, it doesn't look like you could fit a 246.... That front fender is filled nicely!!

My car has stock '76 fenders in the front and SC flares in the rear. In that picture above, I have the 245s in front and 275/40-17s in the rear. The front wheels are custom offset 8x16s, but they're not much different (if at all) than 951 Fuchs. The rears are 9x17s, but with the same offset as 9x16s. The fenders are rolled front and rear, but that's about it - nothing special.

245s in the front are pretty easy - fitting 245s in the rear of a '74 would be a challenge, but I always thought that would be cool. I've heard it has been done, but haven't seen it myself.

Thanks.
It is an original factory color. I'm not sure what it is called. I had the car glass out repainted about 7 years ago. I was going to change color then but am glad I didn't
