1982 sc engine rebuilt gas smell in the front trunk
 

I have a gas smell in the trunk while the engine is running. I've checked the fuel pump in and output hoses no sign of wet fuel. It almost smells like a light vapor. Any ideas or experiences with this anyone? Engine compartment has no fuel smell only the front trunk and inside the cockpit area. Thanks for any ideas.

I had a similar issue with my '76, refreshed all the fuel hoses in the frunk including the filler overflow and problem solved. Some were so old they just broke off on removal even though visually they looked fine. Not a big job. I only noticed the smell in the cabin because I had all fresh air stuff out leaving the cabin open to the frunk.

Check the fuel level sender gasket. It's cork and deteriorates after time.
