Idle Question

85 - 3.2L - Freshly rebuiilt.
Was originally imported from Germany.
When I got it, it had O2 sensor, Cat, etc.

I changed to SSI, no CAT, no 02 plugged in.

Question before I make the drive back to my engine guy.

Start up - Give it some throttle so it doesn't stall. All good after that.

Idle - 1100 rpm... a little high

Acceleration - then slowing down... Idle stays at 1800-2000 rpm. Seems like more often in hot weather.

Acceleration... notice more of a fuel smell... I assume because of no Cat.

Any suggestions.. step by step trouble shooting.

Thank you.

One other thing... still awaiting the blower pipe modification to get the heat exchangers connected etc... does the connection of all of the heat hoses affect anything?

check ICV. it should vibrate when key is on. make sure it is not stuck open.

did you adjust the throttle stop on the throttle body. that's not really an idle adjustment,

air leak

throttle switch

Did some diggIng around the car.

I see the old wire that was connected to o2 sensor. Looks like a single wire. Yet my o2 sensor has a 4 wire plug on it. Hence why it isn't hooked up.

Also looked in the engine area. Found a braided vacuum line that isn't connected.

See pic. Circled in yellow. Other end goes to back of engine and is just hanging back there.

Found where that hose came off and reconnected.

Checked oil and when oil cap removed there was no noticeable change in sound or rooms.

Still 11-1200rpms.

One other thing I noticed.

At cold startup up.

Starts jumps up to 15-1800 and then stalls.

It's fine if I keep foot on the accelerator.

Once warm. Starts fine.

I agree with T77911S, check and let us know, since:
A broken or misadjusted idle switch could result in higher than normal idle, or the idle control valve might not be doing its job.
