Holly Ground ...... holie somthing
My Bro-inlaw has had these sitting for almost 40 years.... I thought I would help him out and do something ... any thing... with the cars..... The picture is of a 1968 9/11L Targa.... Vin #118601XX. Did not get to cleaning door hinge area number and color tag ... it is painted over... will clean soon. The car is most likely originally an orange color.... Need to clean and use a better flash light .... but at first glance ...I think the case is un-numbered. The carbs need closer inspection ... I am old and can not see..... 99.9% sure they are weber 40 IDA.....
The other car is Vin # 3553XX. eng # 90900X. weber 40 IDA. It is 9/11 coupe with sunroof.... Can not open driver door because of stuff in garage ... Will open very soon ... He now seems to be motivated again... Rumple who............... bob Last edited by bobrestore; 07-17-2017 at 10:29 AM.. Reason: picture |

it is interesting time....... He now wants to put the 65 9/11 coupe on a rotisserie and build it ..... I am giving him tons of support..... Seeing this car in his garage for 40 years has been interesting. I believe he will move forward.... The 68 9/11L targa in the weeds, he imported from Germany in 1978. Has the German import papers and European license plate. Speedo says 55,000 kilometers.... I need to get a better look... but the engine and all the parts, air cleaners air pump and all the tiniest bits were on the motor..... I seriously consider the motor was never out of the car or touched by your typical mechanic that would change out parts like hose clamps... I have to look it over more closely to try to tell if that's the case... Just dug it out of the weeds yesterday afternoon. Definitely a Fred Flintstone car........ need to finish the exhumation to get to see what is left of the tub and see the trans..... We need to get all the information and then decide what to do with it..... If it is desirous for that particular 1968 9/11L Targa to be built, then we would try an outright sale. He also mentioned selling the parts .... I leaned towards keeping the car intact. But if the engine trans do not turn out to be original to the car then I would suggest to him to part it.... My gut and initial observation so far suggest the drive train is original to the car.... once again.... Vin #11860131. Engine # was not seen I have to look again but I am pretty sure the support area was blank..... any suggestions would be welcome as to desirability of this particular model/year 9/11L Targa ... bob

Got all the weeds off the 68 9/11L targa... The door hinge pillar tag has a paint code of 68-6804-G. so it is white...... the engine #328052 ..... 11614 ....901-14. Going to pull it out of the ground tomorrow and check the trans.... upon close observation the engine mount bolts had a faint burring in the direction of removal ....so... the engine has been out. The clutch peddle pad was worn all the way down to the steal.. so not likely the 55,000 kilometers is all that is on the car.... bob

I live in the bay area .... The home of the "THE CHURCH OF WHATS HAPPENING NOW"...So..... If a Porsche has sat on the earth for 35 years+, It qualifies as consecrated grounds.............. Oh.... I know... there are always heretics and unbelievers.... but WE KNOW BETTER .... Our plans for today are to pull it out of the ground..... I anticipate that anything south of the rockers has TURNED DUST TO DUST.
