I got BRAID 15X8's and 10's for ST Flares, not fitting , what next?
Got some wonderful ST rear Flares from Europe, these are the ones from Germany or Poland that AASE and Stuttgart Classica are selling, read a million threads about ST wheel sizes, got my Braid USA 15x8, 15x10 RSR finish wheels, gorgeous by the way, standard Fuchs offsets... Got My TB-15 tires, lovely.... Now my metal work man is telling me he would have to add 1-2" to thee flares to make this fit--
Everything everywhere says you can run 10's on the ST rear, I know all the ST flares were various sizes, and not really standardized.... I like the smaller non RSR, non Turbo look of these Flares, should i add metal or get 9's? Different offset? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1498718227.jpg |
My recollection is that ST rear flares are 9", which aligns with what you're seeing. With the right backspacing, I'm sure 10s will fit...just not your 10s. I'd call Braid.

SC/Carrera = 9" ST =10" 930/RSR = 11" '74RSR = 13" It doesn't look like a 1- 2" mismatch to me but pics can be deceiving Seems like you need a wheel w/ less front envelope according to the Braid web site the 10x15 has an ET -15, if so front envelope of the wheel is 6.09" back envelope is 4.91" tire envelope will depend on the size and idiosyncratic tire profile max front space for an SC/Carrera is pretty well documented @4.5" w/ max back space 6" assuming the ST is ~1" more roomy this allows a max front of ~5.5", so it looks like you need either ~ .5 to .6 more fender or the same amount less front space, a 10x15 ET 0 would give you 5.5" front space/5.5" rear space The above is all approximate and depends on details |
thanks Bill, great info there, I guess since I love the look of these 10's and the TB15's I'm going to just add an inch of fresh metal to the quarter, keeping the ST smooth round over, but fitting these Braids..
I guess the lesson here is go with 9's in the rear for your ST builds if you are using the current ST rear flare offerings..... |
For reference, my car has likely the same Euro-made ST flares you have. Im running the Group4 8s & 9s. 9" rears are ET-3 and I added 1/4" spacer, running -2deg camber.
There's plenty of room for a 10" rear given the right offset/backspace without widening the flare. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1498784964.jpg |
Completely depends on offset.
I have 10" wide Fuchs on the rear of my factory ST flares. They fit similar to yours prior to the alignment but then tucked in nicely after the alignment. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1498794435.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1498794435.JPG |
