1989 3.2 with 24PIN CHIP?
I've very recently purchased a Wong chip for my 1989 3.2 engine (engine nr 64k....)
But as I was about to install it today, it turned out that the DME had a 24PIN chip?! I guess it means the DME is from an earlier engine. Anyway to date the DME and chip? Should I buy another 24PIN SW chip or upgrade to 28PIN? Any help appreciated, thanks. Martin |

It's easy to upgrade your DME if you have basic soldering skills. A quick search will find info to walk you thru it.

Thank you. Done some research and it looks fairly simple:
Remove pin between B702 and B1 and solder it between B703 and B704. Then add jumper B700 and 4 extra PINs for the chip. Sound about right? |

Martin,
If your soldering skills are rusty, Steve can also convert your DME to take a 28 pin chip as thats the preferred solution in these situations.

I had Loren modify my 84 to accept a 89 chip.
