Do 7" ATS cookie wheels fit on back of 1969?

I have a 1969 lwb unmodified 912 project. I recently got a set of 1979 ats 6"/7" cookie cutter wheels cheap without tires.

Will the 7" wide fit on the back of a 1969?
If so with what size tires?

I'd love some real experience before I risk buying tires etc. (yup every car is a little different but if the answer is likely no ithen I'll just find another pair of 6" for the back as well.

Thanks!

It depends on the rim offset (ET), tire width and camber setting. I believe you could make it work with 185/70-15 and 205/60-15 f/r. I would have dialed in more camber both in the front and rear, maybe as much as -2 degrees front and -2.5 degrees rear. Back in 1969 the car had 165/80-15 tires all around, and tire technology was light-years from modern tires. Modern tires require more camber, and more camber will significantly improve turn in, balance and stability in high speed turns!

Thank you, it's the best car I've ever owned. Has a 3.2 and is under 2200#.
