Video: Oil change on the Porsche 911 G

Hello,

the video shows a step-by-step instruction for changing the oil and filter on the Porsche 911 G with the 3.2 l engine. The classic air-cooled boxer engine from Porsche has a dry sump lubrication and the oil change has some special features that are shown in detail in the video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErLw5_Tq0e0

The video has a German youndtrack but English subtitles are available on YouTube.

Greetings,

Jürgen

It's always nice to watch these videos. I liked that it was in German as it was more engaging.

he is talking about " G body" not the transmission.

but to answer your question .. no .. as G body came with both 915 and G-50

Reminds me of the Swedish chef in the Muppet show. In a good way.

When you product the same model of car continuously for almost 60 years you have to come up with some way to differentiate them. G body is a common term for all the impact bumper cars 74-89.

This is the way I am familiar with differentiating the models throughout the years. Short wheelbase(A,B) -> Long Hood(C,D,E,F) -> Mid year(G) -> SC(G) -> 3.2 Carerra(G) -> 964 -> 993 ->996 -> 997 -> 991 -> 992.

I could be off on some of the letter designations, G is the only one I hear commonly used. Sometimes I hear the "long hoods" referred to as F-body cars.

I was missing that he did not drain the s-hose, there is also still oil coming out after the crank case and tank is empty.

pretty good for beginners but we all have our own twists.

I dont get the engine warm , i get it hot...

i want to make sure that the stat is completely open and i get all the oil out of the lines. I find the best way to do this is to have all your pans set up go warm the car up and drive the last 1/2 km or so back to the garage in a lower gear with the revs higher, this really spikes the temp and makes sure stat stays open ,

Pull in the garage slide pans under and crack the two drains.

When refilling i can get just about all 12 litres back in this way ...

I also remove fuel pump relay and crank until i see oil pressure start to build on the gauge after filling . Then put the relay back in and fire her up.

Not sure of this makes any difference but its just my way.

Yeah, I like to get the engine hot before I do an oil change too. Just have to be careful and wear good gloves (like he did in the video) because hot oil is very hot.

Hi,

actually, nothing is painted on the engine, maybe you are deceived by the strong lights we use when making the video.

Greetings,

Jürgen
