Seat height

I have a 1983 911 SC and the original seat are thick enough for me to just touch the headliner once in a while. I'm 6' 3" 280. My son is 6' 4 1/2" an his head is always touching the top.
Is there a seat option out there that would drop us dow without cutting the mounting brackets and dropping them down?

Thanks for your thoughts

W.

Upholstery shop can modify seat cushion foam to get you an inch or two.

I'm 6'7 and can manage in my 78 sc no sunroof. But headroom is a lot better when I drive the 75 targa.

I use old school racing seats, MOMOs, bolted to the floor. No sunroof and I'm OK even with my helmet on.

Seat Height

Hi I found a thread here in early 2011 which I used to modify the springs in the base of the seat. It dropped down by about an inch and I have been happy with it like this ever since. If you take the seat out and look at the springs that run from the front to the back under where you sit you will see that they drop down for about 2 inches and then bend and run to the front, straighten the that bend and keeping the same angle in the bend just move it to 3 inches. Do this to 5 or so springs and put all back together. Done.
Good Luck

Porsche changed the seat base welded to the floor over the years. I installed '86 power seats into my '78 based hot rod and I now sit a full 1-1 1/2 higher than in the '86. I think that the earlier the year the lower the seat is and the higher the permanent base is. So an early year seat may be the answer if you want to keep it "Porsche".

Yep... and just to clearify my earlier statement: I switched my 84 correct manual standard seats for 84 correct manual sport seats.
