Is this hub and spindle toast?
Hi All,
Just wanted to tap the experience of the group and see if you think these are salvageable. Have a lateral run out on the front hub and pulling it I noticed a gouge and a protrusion near the inner bearing. The spindle has a few lines on it. I thought a machine shop might be able to do something. What do you guys thing? Thanks in advance, Jim 1977 911s Targa ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hub is OK unless race spins, spindle needs measuring with a pair of calipers and measure the bearing inner race, if its within a few thou it should be OK. it looks like someone in the past used a large screwdriver to seat the bearing race. It doesnt look like the seal area is scratched and if it was i would use some non hardening sealant on it.

Hey Thanks,
I'll measure and try some emory paper. My budget would be stretched to replace them. Jim |

Locktite makes products that would enable you to use that spindle.
