Monterey Historics/car week. What do I need to know?

Hi all. I'm planning on bringing the Grey Ghost to Monterey, but I'm confused about what I should plan for, and what kinds of events I can register my car for? I've heard about the Werks Reunion but I was wondering about the rest of the week? What events do y'all hit?

Depending on when you arrive - my preferences are:
Tuesday - Concours on the Ave, Carmel
Wednesday -
Thursday - Tour de Elegance ending in Carmel (great way to see most of the Pebble cars without actually going to Pebble Sunday)
Friday - Werks - this year maybe Legends of the Autobahn for the AMG 50th anniversary. Quail if you can get tickets - otherwise I'll catch the cars that drive over from the track as they cruise through the canyons.
Saturday - Concours D'Lemons - worth a stop
All of the above are secondary to the track!

Tuesday concours on the avenue is my favorite event. Free, and all day long. Great cars, and ongoing discussion at the stage of the cars and owners by Donald Osborne and Alain de Cadenet.
The Thursday gathering of the concours cars on the avenue after their tour is a free way to see the cars up close. Friday Werks is a must do. You can go to the auction sites (Quail, Bonhams, Mecham, Gooding etc.) and preview the cars that are parked outside without paying to attend the auction. Lots of amazing cars and easily accessible at the sites as long as you go prior to the actual auction.

Same boat as the OP. First time going. Only there for Thursday and WERKS Friday. I have prior plans for Saturday.
What time is the Concourse cars on the avenue? Any suggestions on where to park?
What is at Laguna Seca on Thursday? Edit. They have a schedule on there now.

I'm thinking Dan's drive and then Cars on the Avenue??

The Concours on the Avenue is on Tuesday, not Thu or Fri... Parking on side streets either south or north of Ocean Ave. Be prepared to walk a mile if you are not lucky to find a spot nearby.

Sure. The Tour d'Élegance is on Thu and they park on Ocean Ave from 11AM to 2PM. But... that is different from Concours on the Avenue which is on Tue. Just to make sure people distinguish the two.

How much money do you plan to spend?

I have wrote extensive trip recommendations in Corvette forum for this weekend! The Works show is fairly new add and appreciated!

I usually start by shooting the enthusiast road from Greenfield into Carmel Valley Road!

On Sunday I go over into the Pebble Beach area, but get off the bus from the parking lot and then hit everything, but the Concourse! Generally not my kind of cars, and I go see those on Thursday also as one other mentioned above! I then usually go back to the track for the afternoon after lunch at the Baja Cantina!
Saturday is at the races day, seafood on the wharf afterwards and then cruise around the auctions! But those are getting more and more restricted! Some free displays around the big hotel and in the area outside the big auction! The Russo guys were still selling general admission tickets for the evening, but the car corral is closed to non-bidders once they get started! I actually found a few local car shows to walk, and a downtown theatre that has played a car movie as a feature. I have done the night life sitting outside watching the cars driving around town!

I attended the Monterey Historic/Pebble Beach shows back in 2003 with my older brother. He insisted that for the Pebble Beach show, we dress in suits. We did. Pretty much everyone else were in shorts and T-shirts. I can't tell you how many times that day someone would ask me for directions. I'll never let my brother off the hook for that move.

I was looking last night and I think this will be the plan.

Thursday: Dan's drive to Hahn and then to Baja Cantina for Lunch. Then head to Laguna Seca for the afternoon. It's only $30 and we can look at cars and see the second half of practice. We may eat there at the evening BBQ Dinner or head into town. In the evening probably drive around Monterey and Carmel looking at cars.

Friday: WORKS and then head home. I may take HWY1 to the Golden Gate and then head East to Rocklin.

Have you driven the Laureles Grade Road from the Baja Cantina to Laguna Seca? It's our favorite way to get around the Monterey traffic and ends right at the track entrance. Also, when we were there for the most recent Rennsport Reunion, we ran into Hans Stuck, Derek Bell, and some other driver's at the Fish House Restaurant in Seaside. Wish we could be out there again for this event!
