too much torque ..now what?
Hi all,
jesterday it removed the oil filter screen and suction plate for inspection. I cleaned the screen filter (fortunately it was already clean with no metal or carbon deposits), I replaced paper gaskets washer and nuts with new ones. But I made a mistake:I've torqued nuts to 20N/M instead of 10 N/M as written in the workshop manual. Now .. what to do ? Better to re-torque to 10 N/M or leave at 20 N/M ? Do not know it this can change something but .... I still haven't run the engine. Thanks in advance for help

I would back off and re-torque to the specified torque. As long as none of the threads pulled you should be fine for the long term.

I'd leave them alone, for now. Problem with backing them off and re-torque is the gaskets are probably overly crushed. And maybe the plate is a little warped? So if you loosen it up, what if it leaks? If it is not leaking now, wait until next time to replace the gaskets and check for any warpage.

What Trackrash said. Leave it alone 'till the next oil change, it'll be fine. The plate is probably a little warped around the stud holes which you'll want to flatten out next time.
