MSD coil with Permatune box 911SC?

I am troubleshooting what feels like an intermittent misfire on an 83 SC. The car has an MSD ignition system and an MSD high vibration coil currently installed. I have a spare blue coil and permatune CD in a box as well.

I will check resistances based on this page: https://www.msdperformance.com/products/coils/performance_street/parts/8222
But I am also wondering if is it safe to test the permatune box with the MSD coil at some point?

A previous search revealed the thread linked below, but that was for a 912 and I'm not sure if that same advice (don't do it) applies to this car/setup:

Thanks!

I am sure others will chime in but I thought you could run the msd high vibration 8222 coil with a permatune. Threads with John walker and warren hall on this.

Got it, found this thread: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/951142-compatible-coil-needed-permatune-blue-box-3-pin.html#post9529199

Not sure if the difference between the 6-pin boxes and 3-pin boxes would matter here.

Thanks!
