Clutch sticking on 84 targa

Hi -
New targa owner and new to the forum. I noticed yesterday that my clutch doesn't seem to fully come all of the way out on my 84 targa. Seems to engage and disengage fine when shifting, but when I let off the clutch it only comes out about 3/4 of the way. If I nudge it with my toe it clicks out about another inch or so. Any ideas why clutch doesn't come all the way back out and how I can fix it? The car hasn't been driven much in the past few years. Thanks!

This was somewhat happening on my 84. Had a delay on its own, and used my toe to assist out. I spray lubed the linkage underneath and works just fine now. There are threads here on servicing the pedal, cable, and the other areas if yours is more involved.

Welcome to the Pelican community! First things first, we need a picture.

Next, any hydraulic leaks under the vehicle? When's the last time you serviced anything clutch related (i.e. clutch, fluid, etc)? I posted some threads and articles below that may be of use to you. Hopefully, some other Pelicans will chime in with additional advice for you as well. Good luck!

Welcome to the forum!
Buy a Bentley manual (very much worth the money if you work on the car yourself) and go through the clutch adjustment procedure.
I would look for broken springs (sometimes one or two layers of the omega spring will break) or a stretched cable.

As previously mentioned I would look to make sure the omega spring is intact, and plan on running through the clutch adjustment. Being an 84 you should have the 915 trans with the cable actuated clutch, so no need to worry about hydraulics.

That car has a 915 transmission with a mechanical linkage clutch.... up through '86 had these.

Hydraulic clutch did not occur until the G50 transmission in '87.
