Vibration or humming sound in the steering wheel

Hey guys,

I have a 73 911 that after 15 minutes or so, I get a vibration or humming sound thru the steering column when driving. I can turn the wheel slightly and it goes away. I can push the clutch in, still there. I can push the brake pedal and it goes away. Inspected the suspension all seems good. Spin the left front wheel spins freely. Right front has a little resistance and a little bit of center wear on the rotor. My thoughts are it could be a caliper or wheel bearing. Anyone experience this before?

I would suspect wheel bearing also. Any movement if you pull the top of the tire back and forth while the car is on the ground?

Not that I can tell, maybe a slight play with the tire off the ground. Drove it today, it is coming from the R/F. What's weird the noise goes away when on the brake pedal. So it has me thinking the caliper maybe the cause? But will dig deeper into it! Thanks!

2nd wheel bearing.

Start by simply tightening them...very easy. Otherwise replacing them is fun as it requires kitchen appliances (oven or bbq to get the hubs hot and expanded).

If it is in fact the wheel bearing that's causing the vibration, take a look at the link below for the replacement procedure. Please let us know if you have any questions!
