Question How this springs works????

Dear Friends,

I´m rebuilding this 1976 911s and I notice that the pedal cluster was missing a spring on the clutch pedal
So, I bought one and installed, but now I´m not sure if the installation is correct or what is this coil supposed to do...
At the beginning I thought it was to return the clutch pedal to the OFF position, but now that I installed it I notice that this spring is actually depressing the clutch pedal, very lightly.
Now I wonder if this spring is installed to make the clutch lighter to use...

Thanks

You have it installed correctly. Its purpose is to reduce pedal effort. It pulls the pedal towards the floor.

Looks correctly installed to me, I just did a pedal assembly R/R.....open end up in the back, closed top on the front.
