Window woes
Well I've tried searching and simply can't find anything on this.
My driver's side window started acting up some months ago. It goes up pretty quick but started going down really slow. I sprayed some dry lube into the tracks and that fixed it for several months. Unfortunately in the last week or so it's gotten progressively worse. I can get it down now, but only while holding the switch and pushing with my elbow down. I've tried the dry lube again and it worked for about a day before it went south again. Any ideas before I start tearing into the door panel?

Window regulator mechanism inspection.......
Dumont,
Have you physically inspected and tested the window mechanism by the removing the door panel cover? The window glass is binding probably due to misalignment or swollen felt like JW mentioned. You have to determine the culprit that is causing this problem and without looking closely to the mechanical set up you won't know. Hope the motor is not starting to fail. In a couple of weeks, I will be working on my son's '87 passenger side power window regulator. Keep us posted. Tony |

As I thought, the only real way to know is pull that card off. I'm not fond of that job, too many things to break.

Having cleaned the old grease out of power windows, sunroofs, and Hirschmann antennas in Merc coupes and 911s I can say it is a job worth doing for the joy of watching how quickly the cleaned units perform their task. It is really worth the time as you reduce the fatigue on the motor and save yourself the agony of replacing parts "after the fact."
Good luck, it is only messy and a few parts (felt).

Thanks everybody. As the dry lube has proven to only last about half a day, this is indeed imminent.
